speculate /spékjəlèɪt/ 〖原義は「熟考する」; 「投機する」の意味は1785年Thomas Jeffersonから〗名speculation動詞～s /-ts/ ; ～d /-ɪd/ ; -lating自動詞1 (十分な知識根拠がなく) «…について» (あれこれと)推測する, 考えをめぐらせる(guess), 推測でものを言う; 熟考[思索]する «on, about, as to, upon» ▸ speculate on what might happen [his motive]何が起こるだろうと[彼の動機について]あれこれ考える.2 «…に» 投機する, «…を» 思惑買い[売り]する «in, on» .

accumulate /əkjúːmjəlèɪt/ 動詞～s /-ts/ ; ～d /-ɪd/ ; -lating他動詞(長期にわたり徐々に)〈財産知識所有物など〉を蓄積する, ためる(build up)▸ accumulate enormous wealth巨万の富を築く▸ accumulate more evidenceより多くの証拠を集める.
