① He lives long who lives well. 3

　　正しい生活をするものは長生きをする

② He that cannot ask cannot live.  1

　　求めることが出来ない者は生きることが出来ない　

③ He that cannot obey cannot command. 3

　　服従できない者は支配できない

④ He who chooses, takes the worst. 2

　　選り好みする者は最悪を取る

⑤ He that endures is not overcome.  1

　　何事も辛抱第一。辛抱は物事成就の基

⑥ He that goes a-borrowing goes a-sorrowing.  3

　　借金する者は後悔する。

⑦ He that knows nothing doubts nothing.  2

　　知らぬが仏

⑧ He that travels far knows much.    1

　　広く旅をする人は物知り

⑨ He that will lie will steal.  2

　　嘘つきは盗むもの    嘘つきは泥棒の始まり

⑩ He travels fastest who travels alone.  2

　　一人で旅をする人が一番速く旅をする

borrow /bɔ́ːroʊ, bɑ́(ː)r-|bɔ́r-/ 　アクセント注意〖原義は「担保を入れて借りる」〗動詞～s /-z/ ; ～ed /-d/ ; ～ing他動詞1 〖borrow A (from B)〗(B〈人など〉から)A〈物〉を借りる, 借用する(↔lend)▸ borrow a book from the library図書館から本を借りる▸ Can I borrow your dictionary [car]?君の辞書[車]を貸してくれるかな.
